Discover four new beauty brands at David Jones
Former NFL and baseball player Deion Sanders once said: "If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play good. If you play good, they pay good."
Whilst Deion’s apparent disregard for grammar might irk some English professors, his point about the confidence you gain from being happy with how you look, will ring true for many.
With that in mind, we thought we’d look at four of the new beauty brands available in-store at David Jones Barangaroo. These brands also happen to come from four beautiful countries – including our very own!
Kora Organics | Australia
Certified organic. 100% Australian made. Developed by Miranda Kerr.
That’s probably all you need to know about the KORA Organics range – but if you want a bit more of the back story, Miranda launched the company in 2009, having studied nutrition and health psychology before she began her modelling career. KORA Organics was founded on the values of making a transformative difference to people’s skin, their confidence, and offering them a healthier alternative to other brands on the market.
What's more, their products are never tested on animals, and 20 out of their 21 products are classified as vegan.
Foreo | Sweden
FOREO is a Stockholm-based beauty company taking the world by storm with its range of innovative sonic devices. While they might look more like cute Bluetooth speakers, their skin cleansing brushes (like the Luna 2, below) are serious business – making use of the latest dermatological and cosmetic research to exfoliate your skin, unclog your pores, and remove up to 99.5% of dirt and oil.
SK-II | Japan
What’s in a name? For SK-II, it’s everything. The brand name is based on the discovery of a substance called 'SK-II Pitera'. The story began in the 1970s, when Japanese scientists were keen to discover a skincare ingredient that would make beautiful skin a reality for everyone.
After scouring the land, the scientists found themselves in a sake brewery, where they came across a group of aged sake brewers that had soft, youthful hands. After much contemplation (and multiple repeat visits to the brewery), they realised that the secret behind the soft skin secret must lie in the fermentation liquid that the brewers’ hands were in constant contact with. From there, the SK-II brand was born, and before long, would achieve worldwide recognition for its range of holistic skin care products.
Dermalogica | United States
When skin therapist Jane Wurwand moved from the UK to the United States, she found that there was no product line that embraced her value of skin health, as opposed to skin ‘beauty’. So she developed her own. In 1986, Dermalogica was born, with a vision to have a product line free of irritants that could cause breakouts (including lanolin, SD alcohol, mineral oil, artificial colours and fragrances), and with ingredients that would actively improve skin health.
David Jones Barangaroo now stocks a wide range of Dermalogica products – including moisturisers, cleansers, exfoliating scrubs, and their popular skin care kits (which contain a full regimen of what your skin needs most).
David Jones Barangaroo is located at Exchange Place (near the bottom of the Sussex Street Bridge escalators). While you're there, don't forget to check out the wider range of beauty and cosmetics brands, as well as the convenient services offered at their in-store Beauty Bar.
