Now Open: Banh Meats & Co
Cult-favourite Banh Meats & Co are bringing their signature Viet-style sandwiches and salads to The Streets
If you’re starting to ride the wave of fandom for Vietnamese fare, life is about to get particularly appetising.
This November Banh Meats & Co. are introducing their signature Vietnamese style sandwiches and salads to the shores of Barangaroo. Following on from the acclaimed launch of Cuong Nguyen (Hello Auntie) and Louis Tu’s choose-your-own-adventure sandwich bar in Burwood mid last year, the 2nd Banh Meats & Co. brings a new, more health-focused menu and a unique coffee concept to The Streets.
The format and flavours are the same: choose your bread, choose your protein (fried chicken, smoked beef, or a very tasty crunchy eggplant if you’re going meat-free), and choose the company they keep – anything from potato gems and a cup of creamy mac-and-cheese, to a ten-pack of chicken wings. Now, along with the heart churning but soul enriching flavours mentioned above, there are low carb rolls and bowls to use as your base, charred prawns, fish katsu and grilled chicken breast as fillings. For pre-work needs there’ll be a range of grab-and-go breakfast sambos too.
Banh Meats' breakfast innovation doesn't stop at sambos. They are introducing not one, but two new coffee concepts: premium Vietnamese drip coffee, and a new take on iced coffee inspired by Greek Freddoccinos, a macchiato-like iced drink, hitting The Streets just in time for hot summer days. Both varieties are created in collaboration with boutique local roaster Seven Mile Coffee who’ve roasted the beans to a profile that fits both styles.
Working with good producers is a big focus for both Nguyen and Tu. They use local, family run farms in Beaumont (VIC), Murray Valley (SA), and Gippsland (VIC) whose highest quality ingredients help make this fusion concept simple, accessible and simply delicious.
In keeping with the modern take on authenticity, the eatery's crisp design mixes the black, white and gold palette with natural tones and textures to create a comfortable yet exquisite atmosphere.
