Think about the last four minutes - what did you do? You might have listened to a song on Spotify, read a couple of emails, laughed at a couple of your friend's Insta posts, or looked at where to go for dinner tonight.
Well, in the past four minutes, it's also likely that someone in Australia has received the life-altering news of a new cancer diagnosis. That's right - it's estimated that 134,000 new cancer cases are diagnosed in Australia each year (source: Australian Institute for Health & Welfare
), meaning one new diagnosis every four minutes. At this rate, one in two people will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85.
So what can be done?
Well, research, education, support and prevention are all key parts of the puzzle, and this is what Cancer Council Australia seeks to support each year with Australia's Biggest Morning Tea - now in its 25th year for 2018.
Here at The Streets, we encourage you to get involved with Australia's Biggest Morning Tea on Thursday 24 May - whether it's hosting a morning tea for the whole office, or just something intimate with your immediate team. And to help you get your "mornos" going, we've worked with a couple of our morning-tea-loving venues to put together some catering options. See what they've got on below - and don't forget that every little bit counts.
Shortstop Coffee & Donuts
Got a small army to feed? The team at Shortstop have put together a near-irresistible selection of 24 raised donuts - including 8 x cinnamon, 8 x maple walnut, and 8 x vanilla bean glazed - all for a neat $100.
What's more, Shortstop are also donating 10% of the proceeds to Cancer Council, meaning you finally have a legitimate reason for having an extra donut on a Thursday morning!
